As an indication of my fees, I generally charge ~£600/day or ~£85/hr (or equivalents in other currencies) for IT work. Fees for other work (e.g. , teaching, writing, etc. ) will be in line with those fields’ norms for my level of experience and expertise.

For non-profits, co-operatives and other organisations and projects that I find particularly interesting or ideologically aligned, but who may be financially constrained, I offer two options (at my discretion):

• solidarity discounts of up to 50%; or
• pro-bono work for those without the means to pay (availability permitting).

I have played around a little with using local models via llama.cpp.

I have critiqued a code review generated by Claude Code, and I tried out Kiro at a workplace hackathon but found it very annoying. I used Rovo in Jira once and it was completly useless.

I remain very skeptical of the value of LLMs for most tasks, but there are clearly certain jobs where (in the hands of a sufficiently experienced user) they can be a huge time saver.

I detest any organisation that requires me to talk to a chatbot to access support. The one upside is that they usually respond to a demand to bypass their previous instructions and connect me immediately with a human (as has long been the dream).
